Honda Canada and the Toronto Blue Jays™ celebrate Canada Day at Rogers Centre™
One lucky fan takes home a Canadian-built Honda Civic sedan
TORONTO, ON (July 4, 2016) – Spirited Toronto Blue Jays fans packed the sold out Rogers Centre for Canada Day presented by Honda. Three lucky Toronto Blue Jays fans won fabulous Honda prizes, giving them even more reason to celebrate the day.
Matt Gallagher of Brampton, Ontario appropriately won a brand new Canadian-built 2016 Honda Civic EX sedan on Canada Day, while Maureen Beaumont of Utopia, Ontario and Annalee Kirk of Keswick, Ontario each took home a Honda lawnmower.
“Along with millions of people across the country, Honda is proud to celebrate what it means to be Canadian,” said Dave Gardner, senior vice president of operations, Honda Canada Inc. “The Blue Jays are Canada’s baseball team and the Honda Civic is Canada’s car, so we’re very happy to partner with the Jays on such a memorable event.”
Adding to the excitement of pre-game activities was the presentation of a $5,000 cheque to Make-A-Wish Canada®, made possible by the Honda Canada Foundation. The donation signaled the beginning of a major fundraising effort by the Foundation and the Ontario Honda Dealers Association (OHDA) that takes place every year during the Honda Indy Toronto.
Since 2010, Honda Canada and the OHDA have helped raise more than $440,000 in support of Make-A-Wish Canada. For the seventh consecutive year, the OHDA will sponsor Fan Friday at the Honda Indy Toronto on July 15, covering the cost of admission for all who attend. While admission is free, attendees will be encouraged to make a donation to support Make-A-Wish® and all monies collected during Indy weekend will be matched by the Honda Canada Foundation.
Prior to racing at the Honda Indy Toronto, race car driver and proud Canadian James Hinchcliffe threw out the ceremonial first pitch during pre-game ceremonies. In addition to the action on the field, the first 20,000 baseball fans in attendance were treated to a Blue Jays Canada Day towel, presented by Honda.
